SHERDLEY ESTATE
The photographs of the Sherdley Estate buildings shown below were taken by R.G. Brook in 1890. Rory Hughes (Lord St. Helens) maintains possession of the photographs from which these scans were taken. The grounds of Sherdley Estate are now known as Sherdley Park, and it is St. Helens largest park spanning over 700 acres of beautiful natural parkland and open woodland. It contains formal gardens and a lake, as well as a pets corners and children's play area. There are also well-kept playing fields and one of the best municipal 18 hole golf courses and driving ranges in the Northwest. Sadly, it should be noted that none of the buildings you see in the photographs below exist today. Select a photo to view in a larger format.
