Robert Goldthorpe Brook
Continued...
Robert married a woman named Mary, and together they had four children. The children were named Maria (Marie) L, Henry Horatio, Emily Rachel, and Charles Herbert Brook. Henry and Emily did not survive past their childhood years. Emily was buried in the St. Helens Cemetery (Sect 4 No 96) on March 6, 1870 at 4 years of age, and Henry was buried with his sister in the same plot on March 1, 1875 at the age 11 years. Both burials are recorded as being full interments (body in coffin).
Mary passed away at an early age and was buried in the St. Helens Cemetery (Sect 4 No 97) on September 19, 1880 at the age of 40 years. R.G. Brook spent some time as a widower before his marriage to second wife Katherine, a Young woman from Cavan, Ireland. She was almost half his age. Katherine passed away in 1914 at the age of 48 years.

In the centre of the photograph (above left) is the Brook family plot located in St. Helens Cemetery. On the right side of this unmarked plot lay the remains of the children Emily and Henry (plot No. 96). On the left side (plot No. 97), lie the remains of wives Mary and Catherine, and Robert G. Brook.
Robert Gerald Brook, Great Great Grandson of Robert and Mary Brook, kneels at the grave of his ancestors in July 2010 (above right). It appears very unlikely that a gravestone was ever located here to acknowledge any of the five ancestors buried in this plot. The reason for a lack of a grave marker unfortunately remains a mystery.

Click on any of the census document images below to view them in a larger format. For some unknown reason, the census document for 1861 is not available at this time. Once I locate it I will post it here. I am currently working on a detailed "timeline" from a variety of recently obtained articles, documents and "discoveries" that will better outline the life of R.G. Brook for us.
